The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky has split [open] 1 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] 2 when earth is stretched out 3 And casts forth what is within it and becomes (clean) empty, 4 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed! 5 O thou man! Verily thou art ever toiling on towards thy Lord- painfully toiling,- but thou shalt meet Him. 6 Then as to him who shall be given his book in his right hand 7 He truly will receive an easy reckoning 8 and will return rejoicing to his family. 9 And as to him who is given his book behind his back, 10 he will in time pray for utter destruction: 11 And enter into burning fire. 12 Verily, he was among his people in joy! 13 and had thought that they would never be brought back to life again. 14 Yes indeed, his Lord was ever watching him. 15 So I swear by the afterglow of sunset; 16 And by the night and that which it driveth together, 17 And by the moon when she becometh full. 18 You shall certainly travel from stage to stage (in this life and in the Hereafter). 19 But what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 And when the Quran is recited to them they do not make obeisance? ۩ 21 Nay, (on the contrary), those who disbelieve, belie (Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) and whatever he brought, i.e. this Quran and Islamic Monotheism, etc.). 22 And Allah knows best what they hide, 23 (Muhammad), tell them that they will all suffer a painful torment 24 Except those who believed and did good deeds – for them is a reward that will never end. 25
