The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder 1 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed; 2 when the earth flattens out, 3 And shall cast forth that which is therein, and shall become empty. 4 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord,- and it must needs (do so);- (then will come Home the full reality). 5 O man, you have to strive and go on striving towards your Lord, then will you meet Him. 6 So whoever is given his record of deeds in his right hand – 7 Will have an easy reckoning, 8 and shall return to his people joyfully. 9 But he who is given his ledger from behind his back 10 he will in time pray for utter destruction: 11 and roast at the Blaze. 12 He used to be happy with his own people; 13 thinking he would never revert (to Us). 14 But he will indeed! His Lord was ever watching him. 15 So I swear by the twilight glow 16 by the night and what it covers, 17 And [by] the moon when it becomes full 18 that you will certainly pass through one stage after another. 19 What is the matter with them? Why do they not believe? 20 When the Quran is read to them, why do they not fall to their knees? ۩ 21 Indeed, those who are bent on denying the truth reject it -- 22 But God knows what they harbour in their breasts. 23 Therefore give to them glad tidings of a painful punishment, 24 Except those who believe and do good; for them is a reward that shall never be cut off. 25
