Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Hath there come unto thee the story of the Enveloping Event? 1 Faces on that day humbled, 2 Travailing, worn. 3 They will [enter to] burn in an intensely hot Fire. 4 Drinking from a boiling spring, 5 No food will there be for them but a poisonous thorny plant, 6 Which neither give strength nor satisfy the hunger. 7 However, on that day the faces of other people will be happy. 8 with their striving well-pleased, 9 They shall be in a Garden lofty: 10 They shall hear therein no vain discourse; 11 Therein shall be a spring running! 12 Therein are thrones raised high, 13 And goblets set at hand 14 And cushions lined up 15 And silken carpets spread. 16 Do (these unbelievers) not observe the camels: how they were created? 17 how heaven was lifted up, 18 And the mountains – how they have been established? 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 And so, [O Prophet,] exhort them; thy task is only to exhort: 21 You are not a dictator over them. 22 But he who turns his back, and disbelieves, 23 Allah will punish him with direst punishment. 24 Indeed, to Us they shall return, 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
