The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder 1 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord, and it must needs (do so);- 2 when earth is stretched out 3 and throws out of itself all that it contains 4 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed! 5 [then,] O man - thou [that] hast, verily, been toiling towards thy Sustainer in painful toil - then shalt thou meet Him! 6 Then, he who is given his Book in his right hand 7 he will in time be called to account with an easy accounting, 8 And he shall go back to his people joyful. 9 But he who is given his Record behind his back,- 10 He surely will invoke destruction 11 and he shall roast at a Blaze. 12 He used to be happy with his own people; 13 Truly, did he think that he would not have to return (to Us)! 14 Nay, nay! for his Lord was (ever) watchful of him! 15 Oh, I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 by the night and all that it envelops; 17 and by the moon, when it reaches its fullness: 18 you shall surely ride stage after stage. 19 What aileth them then, that they believe not, 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them do not bow in adoration? ۩ 21 Nay, but those who disbelieve will deny; 22 And Allah knoweth best what they are hiding. 23 Therefore give to them glad tidings of a painful punishment, 24 Except those who believe and do good; for them is a reward that shall never be cut off. 25
