The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the sky has split [open] 1 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 2 when the earth flattens out, 3 and casts forth whatever is in it, and becomes utterly void, 4 and obeys its Lord as it must, 5 [then,] O man - thou [that] hast, verily, been toiling towards thy Sustainer in painful toil - then shalt thou meet Him! 6 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 he will in time be called to account with an easy accounting, 8 and he shall return to his people, joyfully, 9 But whosoever is given his Record behind his back, 10 he shall call for destruction 11 But will be roasted in the fire. 12 He lived rejoicing among his people, 13 and had thought that they would never be brought back to life again. 14 Yea indeed! His Sustainer did see all that was in him! 15 So I swear by the twilight glow 16 by the night and all that it envelops; 17 And by the moon when she becometh full. 18 you shall surely ride stage after stage. 19 What is the matter with them that they do not accept faith? 20 When the Quran is read to them, why do they not fall to their knees? ۩ 21 But on the contrary the Unbelievers reject (it). 22 Whereas Allah knoweth best that which they cherish. 23 So announce to them a painful torment. 24 unless it be such [of them] as [repent, and] attain to faith, and do good works; for theirs shall be a reward unending! 25
