The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
22 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Sun (Al-Shams) before The Fig (Al-Teen)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the heaven, holding the big stars. 1 And by the Day promised, 2 and [of] Him who witnesses [all,] and [of] that unto which witness is borne [by Him]! 3 Cursed be the makers of the pit, 4 the fire abounding in fuel, 5 Lo! [With glee do] they contemplate that [fire,] 6 to watch what they were doing to the believers, 7 The only reason for which they tormented the believers was the latter's belief in God, the Majestic, and Praiseworthy. 8 to Whom belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth. Allah witnesses everything. 9 Those who persecute the believing men and believing women, and then do not repent, will surely suffer the punishment of Hell, and the torment of burning. 10 Lo! those who believe and do good works, theirs will be Gardens underneath which rivers flow. That is the Great Success. 11 Indeed the seizure of your Lord is very severe. 12 Surely He it is Who originates and reproduces, 13 And He is the Forgiving, the Affectionate, 14 The Lord of the Glorious Throne, 15 the Executor of what He wills. 16 Has the story of the hordes 17 Of Pharaoh and (the tribe of) Thamud? 18 Nay, but those who disbelieve live in denial 19 And Allah, all unseen, surroundeth them. 20 Nay, this is a Glorious Qur'an, 21 written on a preserved Tablet. 22

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
