The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the heaven and the Morning Star 1 What could let you know what the nightly comer is! 2 It is the star shining brightly. 3 There is no soul but has a protector over it. 4 Let the human being reflect that from what he has been created. 5 He was created from a fluid, ejected, 6 that issues from between the loins and the ribs. 7 Verily, (Allah) is Able to bring him back (to life)! 8 on the Day when all secrets will be laid bare, 9 [man] will have no power, and no helper. 10 By the heavens, ever-revolving, 11 by earth splitting with verdure, 12 Behold this is the Word that distinguishes (Good from Evil): 13 It is no pleasantry. 14 They are devising guile, 15 and I am cunningly devising. 16 Therefore respite the unbelievers, and delay them for a while. 17
