The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
I CALL TO witness the heavens and the night Star -- 1 And what shall teach thee what is the night-star? 2 (It is) the star of piercing brightness; 3 There is not a soul but over it is a keeper. 4 Let man reflect on what he was created from. 5 He is created from a gushing fluid 6 emanating from between the loins and the ribs. 7 Most surely He is able to return him (to life). 8 On the Day when man's deepest secrets shall be put to the test 9 Then he shall have no power nor any helper. 10 By the heavens, ever-revolving, 11 And the earth which splits (with the growth of trees and plants), 12 Most surely it is a decisive word, 13 and is not to be taken lightly. 14 Verily, they are but plotting a plot (against you O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)). 15 but I too plan against them. 16 Give respite to the disbelievers and leave them alone for a while. 17
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
