The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
I swear by the heaven and the comer by night; 1 And what will make you know what the comer by night is? 2 (It is) the piercing star. 3 There is no soul but has a protector over it. 4 Let man consider what he was made of: 5 He is created from a water gushing forth. 6 Proceeding from between the backbone and the ribs: 7 God has certainly power to bring him back (from the dead). 8 On the day when all secrets will be made public, 9 Then he shall have no power nor any helper. 10 By oath of the sky from which comes down the rain. 11 And the earth splitting (with plants); 12 Most surely it is a decisive word, 13 And it is no joke. 14 Verily, they are but plotting a plot (against you O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)). 15 And I (too) will make a scheme. 16 So give a respite to the disbelievers. Deal thou gently with them for a while. 17
