The All High (Al-A'alaa)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ EXTOL the limitless glory of thy Sustainer's name: [the glory of] the Al-Highest, 1 who created and shaped, 2 And Who has measured (preordainments for each and everything even to be blessed or wretched); then guided (i.e. showed mankind the right as well as wrong paths, and guided the animals to pasture); 3 who brings forth green pasture, 4 Then made it dry and dark. 5 We shall enable thee to recite, and then thou shalt not forget, 6 except what Allah should wish. He knows all that is manifest and all that is hidden. 7 And We shall make easy for you (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) the easy way (i.e. the doing of righteous deeds). 8 Therefore remind (men) in case the reminder profits (them). 9 He who fears (Allah) shall heed it, 10 but the most wretched shall flout it, 11 and suffer the heat of the great fire 12 Wherein he will neither die nor live. 13 Surely he will succeed who grows in goodness, 14 And remembers (glorifies) the Name of his Lord (worships none but Allah), and prays (five compulsory prayers and Nawafil additional prayers). 15 But nay, [O men,] you prefer the life of this world, 16 Whereas the Hereafter is better and everlasting. 17 Surely this is in the ancient scrolls, 18 the scriptures of Abraham and Moses. 19
