Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Have you heard the story of the overwhelming event (the Day of Judgment)? 1 Many faces will be contrite on that day, 2 toiling [under burdens of sin,] worn out [by fear,] 3 They will suffer the heat of the blazing fire 4 They will be given drink from a boiling spring. 5 There is no food for them except thorns of fire. 6 unfattening, unappeasing hunger. 7 On that very Day some faces shall be radiant with joy, 8 Glad with their endeavour (for their good deeds which they did in this world, along with the true Faith of Islamic Monotheism). 9 They will live in an exalted garden 10 hearing there no babble; 11 Therein will be a flowing spring, 12 Therein are thrones raised high, 13 and prepared goblets, 14 And cushions lined up 15 And rich carpets spread. 16 Do they not look at the Camels, how they are made?- 17 And how the heaven was raised up, 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted? 19 And at the Earth, how it is spread out? 20 Then remind them! Thou art only a reminder; 21 Thou art not over them a warden. 22 But whoever turns back and disbelieves, 23 Him Allah shall torment with the greatest torment. 24 To Us is surely their returning; 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
