Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Hast thou received the story of the Enveloper? 1 (Some) faces on that day shall be downcast, 2 Working [hard] and exhausted. 3 Scorched by burning fire, 4 They will be given to drink from a boiling spring, 5 No food for them save bitter thorn-fruit 6 Which doth not nourish nor release from hunger. 7 In that day other faces will be calm, 8 and pleased with the result of their deeds in the past. 9 in a sublime Garden, 10 Where they hear no idle speech, 11 Therein will be a flowing spring, 12 [and] there will be thrones [of happiness] raised high, 13 And drinking-cups ready placed, 14 And arranged carpets. 15 And silken carpets spread. 16 Do they not then ponder how the clouds were formed; 17 And at the sky - how it is raised? 18 And the mountains: how they were fixed? 19 And at the earth - how it is spread out? 20 Therefore do remind, for you are only a reminder. 21 Thou art not one to manage (men's) affairs. 22 Except whoever turns away and disbelieves 23 Allah will punish him with a mighty Punishment, 24 Verily, to Us will be their return; 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
