Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Hath there come unto thee tidings of the Overwhelming? 1 Some faces will on that Day be downcast, 2 Labouring (hard), weary,- 3 roasting at a scorching fire, 4 Drinking from a boiling spring, 5 No food will there be for them but a poisonous thorny plant, 6 Which shall neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 Some faces on that Day will be radiant, 8 Pleased with their striving,- 9 in a sublime garden, 10 wherein thou wilt hear no empty talk. 11 Therein is a fountain flowing, 12 Therein will be Thrones (of dignity), raised on high, 13 Goblets placed (ready), 14 and cushions ranged, 15 and carpets spread out. 16 Will they not regard the camels, how they are created? 17 And the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And the mountains – how they have been established? 19 And the earth – how it has been spread out? 20 Then remind them! Thou art only a reminder; 21 Thou art not one to manage (men's) affairs. 22 Save the one who turns away and disbelieves 23 Him Allah shall torment with the greatest torment. 24 Indeed, to Us is their return. 25 Then it will be for Us to call them to account. 26
