Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Hast thou received the story of the Enveloper? 1 On that Day, there shall be downcast faces, 2 Working [hard] and exhausted. 3 The while they enter the Blazing Fire,- 4 They will be given drink from a boiling spring. 5 There is no food for them except thorns of fire. 6 Which shall neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 [And] some faces will on that Day shine with bliss, 8 With their effort [they are] satisfied 9 In an elevated garden, 10 wherein they will not hear any vain talk. 11 Therein will be a bubbling spring: 12 Therein will be Thrones (of dignity), raised on high, 13 And goblets ready placed! 14 And cushions ranged 15 and carpets outspread. 16 Do they never reflect on the camels and how they were created, 17 how the heavens are raised up high, 18 how the mountains are set firm, 19 And at the earth - how it is spread out? 20 (Muhammad), preach; you are only a preacher. 21 You are not a warden over them, 22 But whosoever will turn back and disbelieve 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 Verily, to Us will be their return; 25 And Ours their reckoning. 26
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
