Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
HAS THERE COME unto thee the tiding of the Overshadowing Event? 1 Faces on that Day shall be downcast, 2 Labouring, striving hard. 3 They will [enter to] burn in an intensely hot Fire. 4 that is fueled from a tremendously hot fountain, 5 They shall have no food but of thorns, 6 unfattening, unappeasing hunger. 7 Faces on that Day shall be delighted, 8 Rejoicing over their efforts. 9 In a lofty garden, 10 Where they shall neither hear harmful speech nor falsehood, 11 therein a running fountain, 12 Therein are thrones raised high, 13 And cups set at hand. 14 and cushions arrayed in rows, 15 and carpets spread out. 16 Do they not look at the camels, how they are created? 17 and on the sky, how it is raised aloft, 18 and how the mountains were firmly fixed? 19 and on the earth, how it is spread out? 20 So, [O Prophet] exhort them: your task is only to exhort, 21 You are not a dictator over them. 22 Except whoever turns away and disbelieves – 23 Allah will punish him with a mighty Punishment, 24 Certainly, it is to Us that they will return. 25 Then verily, for Us will be their reckoning. 26
