Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Hath there come unto thee the story of the Enveloping Event? 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated, 2 be toiling and worn-out; 3 roasting at a scorching Fire 4 and will be made to drink from a boiling spring, 5 No food for them save bitter thorn-fruit 6 which neither sustains, nor satisfy hunger. 7 However, on that day the faces of other people will be happy. 8 With their endeavour well pleased. 9 They shall be in a Garden lofty: 10 where they will hear no idle talk. 11 Therein will be a running spring, 12 Therein shall be couches elevated! 13 And goblets ready placed! 14 Cushions arranged, 15 And carpets spread out. 16 What, do they not reflect upon how the camel was created? 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And the mountains – how they have been established? 19 And the earth, how it is spread? 20 Remind them, for thou art but a remembrancer, 21 you are not their keeper. 22 But whosoever will turn back and disbelieve 23 him will God cause to suffer the greatest suffering [in the life to come]: 24 Verily unto Us is their return. 25 Then indeed only upon Us is their reckoning. 26
