Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Hath there come unto thee tidings of the Overwhelming? 1 Many a face will be disgraced on that day. 2 labouring, toilworn, 3 They will [enter to] burn in an intensely hot Fire. 4 Made to drink from a boiling spring. 5 No food shall be theirs save bitter thorn, 6 Neither nourishing nor banishing hunger. 7 However, on that day the faces of other people will be happy. 8 Pleased with their striving,- 9 They will be in a lofty Garden 10 Where they hear no idle speech, 11 Therein will be a bubbling spring: 12 therein uplifted couches 13 and goblets placed ready, 14 cushions ranged, 15 and well spread carpets. 16 So do they not see the camel – how it has been created? 17 And at the Sky, how it is raised high?- 18 And the mountains – how they have been established? 19 And at the earth, how it is outspread? 20 So remind them (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)), you are only a one who reminds. 21 You do not have full control over them. 22 But whoever turns back and denies the truth, 23 will be punished by God with the greatest punishment. 24 Indeed, to Us they shall return, 25 Then verily on Us is their reckoning. 26
