Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); 1 Faces on that Day shall be downcast, 2 Laboring, toiling, 3 roasting at a scorching fire, 4 Given to drink of a spring fiercely boiling. 5 There is no food for them except thorns of fire. 6 Which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 Many a face will be in serenity on that day. 8 well-pleased with [the fruit of] their striving, 9 in a garden sublime, 10 In which they will not hear any lewd speech. 11 In it is a flowing spring. 12 and couches raised high, 13 And goblets set at hand 14 and cushions arrayed in rows, 15 And rich carpets spread. 16 Will they not then consider the camels, how they are created? 17 and on the sky, how it is raised aloft, 18 and on the mountains, how they are firmly set up, 19 how the earth was outstretched? 20 Remind them, for thou art but a remembrancer, 21 Thou art not one to manage (men's) affairs. 22 As for those who turn their back and disbelieve, 23 Allah will chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 To Us is surely their returning; 25 Then verily on Us is their reckoning. 26
