Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Has the story reached thee of the overwhelming (Event)? 1 Faces on that day humbled, 2 Labouring, striving hard. 3 Burning in the scorching fire, 4 that is fueled from a tremendously hot fountain, 5 They shall have no food except bitter dry thorns 6 which neither sustains, nor satisfy hunger. 7 In that day other faces will be calm, 8 well-pleased with [the fruit of] their striving, 9 They will be in a lofty Garden 10 Where they shall neither hear harmful speech nor falsehood, 11 Within it is a flowing spring. 12 Therein will be thrones raised high, 13 and goblets set forth 14 And arranged carpets. 15 and well spread carpets. 16 Will they not regard the camels, how they are created? 17 And the heaven – how it has been raised? 18 and on the mountains, how they are firmly set up, 19 and on the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Remind them; you are surely a reminder. 21 thou canst not compel them [to believe]. 22 But whoever turns back and disbelieves, 23 God will punish them with the greatest torment. 24 Verily unto Us is their return. 25 Then verily on Us is their reckoning. 26
