Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Hath there come unto thee tidings of the Overwhelming? 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated, 2 Labouring (hard), weary,- 3 roasting at a scorching Fire 4 They will be given drink from a boiling spring. 5 no food for them but cactus thorn 6 Neither nourishing nor banishing hunger. 7 (Other) faces that Day will be joyful, 8 well pleased with their striving, 9 They shall be in a Garden lofty: 10 Where they shall hear no (word) of vanity: 11 Within it is a flowing spring. 12 Within it are couches raised high 13 And goblets set at hand 14 Cushions arranged, 15 and carpets spread out. 16 Will they not regard the camels, how they are created? 17 And at the sky, how it is raised aloft? 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted? 19 And at the earth - how it is spread out? 20 So, [O Prophet] exhort them: your task is only to exhort, 21 You are not a watcher over them; 22 However, those who turn away and disbelieve, 23 God will punish them with the greatest torment. 24 Verily unto Us is their return. 25 Then verily, for Us will be their reckoning. 26
