Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); 1 Faces on that Day shall be downcast, 2 Laboring, toiling, 3 they shall burn in a Scorching Fire; 4 given to drink from a boiling spring. 5 No food for them save the bitterness of dry thorns, 6 Which neither nourishes nor avails against hunger. 7 In that day other faces will be calm, 8 well pleased with their striving, 9 They will live in an exalted garden 10 Never hearing idle talk. 11 Countless springs will flow therein, 12 and couches raised high, 13 and goblets laid out, 14 and cushions arrayed 15 And carpets ready spread, 16 Do they never reflect on the camels and how they were created, 17 And the sky: how it was raised high? 18 And the mountains, how they are firmly fixed, 19 And the earth, how it is spread? 20 So remind, [O Muhammad]; you are only a reminder. 21 You are not charged to oversee them. 22 But whosoever will turn back and disbelieve 23 Allah will chastise him with the most terrible chastisement. 24 Certainly, it is to Us that they will return. 25 Then indeed only upon Us is their reckoning. 26
God the Almighty always says the truth.
