Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
HAS THERE COME unto thee the tiding of the Overshadowing Event? 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated, 2 laboring, wornout, 3 They shall roast into the scalding Fire, 4 They will be given drink from a boiling spring. 5 There is no food for them except thorns of fire. 6 Which doth not nourish nor release from hunger. 7 (Whereas other) faces on that Day will be joyful, 8 well-pleased with their striving. 9 In an elevated garden, 10 wherein they shall hear no vain talk. 11 Therein shall be a spring running! 12 Wherein are couches raised 13 And goblets ready placed! 14 And cushions lined up 15 And carpets spread around. 16 Will they not then consider the camels, how they are created? 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 and on the mountains, how they are firmly set up, 19 And at the Earth, how it is spread out? 20 Therefore remind, you are only a Reminder. 21 You are not charged to oversee them. 22 Except whoever turns away and disbelieves – 23 Him Allah shall torment with the greatest torment. 24 Verily, to Us will be their return; 25 Then, surely, it is for Us to call them to account. 26
