Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Has the story reached thee of the overwhelming (Event)? 1 Many faces will be contrite on that day, 2 troubled and tired as a result of their deeds in the past. 3 They will [enter to] burn in an intensely hot Fire. 4 They will be given drink from a boiling spring. 5 they shall have no food but thorns, 6 Which shall neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 [Other] faces, that Day, will show pleasure. 8 and pleased with the result of their deeds in the past. 9 They will be in a lofty Garden 10 wherein thou wilt hear no empty talk. 11 with a flowing spring, 12 therein uplifted couches 13 And cups put in place 14 Cushions arranged, 15 And carpets ready spread, 16 Then do they not look at the camels - how they are created? 17 And the heaven – how it has been raised? 18 And at the mountains, how firmly they are reared? 19 And how the earth was outstretched? 20 Therefore do remind, for you are only a reminder. 21 You are not at all a guardian over them. 22 But whoso is averse and disbelieveth, 23 Allah will punish him with direst punishment. 24 To Us is surely their returning; 25 Then surely upon Us is the taking of their account. 26
