Al-Balad
The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Nay! I swear by this city 1 For you (O dear Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) are in this city. 2 and [I call to witness] parent and offspring: 3 indeed, We created man in trouble. 4 Does he think that no one can overpower him? 5 saying, 'I have consumed wealth abundant'? 6 Thinketh he that none beholdeth him? 7 Have We not made for him two eyes? 8 and a tongue and two lips? 9 And shown him the two ways (good and evil)? 10 But he would not attempt the uphill road, 11 And what have you understood, what the valley is! 12 (It is) the setting free of a slave, 13 And to feed in the day of hunger. 14 An orphan near of kin, 15 or to a needy person in distress; 16 the believers who cooperate with others in patience (steadfastness) and kindness. 17 They are the people of the right hand (and will succeed). 18 And (as for) those who disbelieve in our communications, they are the people of the left hand. 19 and the Fire will close in on them. 20
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
