The Sun (Al-Shams)
15 verses, revealed in Mecca after Destiny (Al-Qadr) before The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By the sun and its morning brightness, 1 by the moon, which follows it, 2 And by the day as it shows up (the sun's) brightness; 3 and by the night as it envelopes the sun; 4 And the heaven and Him Who built it, 5 and by the earth and by Him Who stretched it out; 6 And [by] the soul and He who proportioned it 7 then inspired it to understand what was right and wrong for it. 8 those who purify their souls will certainly have everlasting happiness 9 and failed is he who buried it! 10 Thamood cried lies in their insolence 11 when the most wretched of them uprose, 12 So Allah's apostle said to them (Leave alone) Allah's she-camel, and (give) her (to) drink. 13 But they called him a liar and slaughtered her, therefore their Lord crushed them for their sin and levelled them (with the ground). 14 And He feared not the consequence thereof 15
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
