The Sun (Al-Shams)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the Sun and his (glorious) splendour; 1 by the moon, which follows it, 2 and by the day as it displays the sun's glory, 3 by the night when it covers the earth with darkness, 4 By the Firmament and its (wonderful) structure; 5 And by oath of the earth and by oath of Him Who spread it. 6 and by the soul and that (Power) which designed it 7 Then He showed him what is wrong for him and what is right for him; 8 Truly he succeeds that purifies it, 9 and failed has he who seduces it. 10 In their presumptuous insolence the Thamud called the Truth a lie 11 when the most corrupt of them incited them (to commit evil). 12 The Messenger of God told them, "This is a she-camel, belonging to God. Do not deprive her of her share of water". 13 But they belied him, and hamstrung her. So their Lord crushed them for their sin and leveled it (their village). 14 God is not afraid of the result of what He had decreed. 15
