The Sun (Al-Shams)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the sun and its midmorning, 1 And the moon as she follows in his wake, 2 By the day when it glorifieth it. 3 And the night when it enshroudeth him, 4 By the heaven and Who built it, 5 and by the earth and by Him Who stretched it out; 6 And by oath of the soul and by oath of Him Who made it proper. 7 And its enlightenment as to its wrong and its right;- 8 Indeed successful is the one who made it pure. 9 And he is indeed a failure who stunteth it. 10 (The tribe of) Thamud denied (the truth) in their rebellious pride, 11 when the most corrupt of them incited them (to commit evil). 12 The Messenger of God told them, "This is a she-camel, belonging to God. Do not deprive her of her share of water". 13 Then they denied him and they killed it. So their Lord destroyed them because of their sin, and made them equal in destruction (i.e. all grades of people, rich and poor, strong and weak, etc.)! 14 And He does not fear its coming behind (to take vengeance). 15
