The Sun (Al-Shams)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By the sun and its morning brightness, 1 and by the moon when she follows him, 2 and by the day as it reveals its glory 3 by the night when it covers the earth with darkness, 4 And the heaven and Him Who built it, 5 And [by] the earth and He who spread it 6 By the soul and Him Who propertioned it, 7 Then He showed him what is wrong for him and what is right for him; 8 Surely blissful is he who hath cleansed it, 9 And he is indeed a failure who stunteth it. 10 Thamood cried lies in their insolence 11 Behold, the most wicked man among them was deputed (for impiety). 12 Then the messenger of God said to them, "This is God's she-camel. Let her drink." 13 But they belied him, and hamstrung her. So their Lord crushed them for their sin and leveled it (their village). 14 for none [of them] had any fear of what might befall them. 15
