The Sun (Al-Shams)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the sun and its morning brightness, 1 And the moon as she follows in his wake, 2 And the day when it shows it, 3 And by the night as it conceals it (the sun); 4 By the heaven and Him Who builded it, 5 by the earth and that (Power) which spread it out 6 And the soul and Him Who made it perfect, 7 and inspired it to lewdness and godfearing! 8 Indeed successful is the one who made it pure. 9 And miserable is he who hath buried it. 10 Thamud denied [their prophet] by reason of their transgression, 11 when the most corrupt of them incited them (to commit evil). 12 the Messenger of Allah said to them: '(This is) the shecamel of Allah, let her drink' 13 But they gave him the lie, and hamstrung the she-camel. So their Lord destroyed them for their crime and razed their city to the ground. 14 He has no fear of its sequel. 15
