The Night (Al-Layl)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By the night, when it envelops, 1 and by the day when it breaks in its glory, 2 and by the creation of the male and the female. 3 Certainly, your efforts and deeds are diverse (different in aims and purposes); 4 As for he who gives and fears Allah 5 And (in all sincerity) testifies to the best,- 6 observe piety, and believe in receiving rewards from God. 7 But he who is greedy miser and thinks himself self-sufficient. 8 and he belied the finest 9 for him shall We make easy the path towards hardship: 10 And what will his wealth benefit him when he goes down (in destruction). 11 Surely, it is for Us to provide guidance -- 12 And indeed the Hereafter and this world both belong to Us. 13 Therefore I have warned you of a Fire blazing fiercely (Hell); 14 None except the most wicked will enter it. 15 Who denied (the truth) and turned away. 16 And away from it shall be kept the one who guards most (against evil), 17 who spend for the cause of God and purify themselves. 18 not as payment for favours received, 19 Except the seeking of the pleasure of his Lord, the Most High. 20 And presently he shall become well pleased. 21
