Al-Layl
The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the night when it enshrouds, 1 and by the day as it appears radiantly, 2 and by the creation of the male and the female. 3 O men, you truly strive towards the most diverse ends! 4 As for he who gives and fears Allah 5 and confirms the reward most fair, 6 Surely We will ease his way unto the state of ease. 7 But as for he who withholds and considers himself free of need 8 And disbelieveth in goodness; 9 We shall surely ease for him the Path of Hardship (the Fire). 10 And what will his wealth avail him when he falls? 11 Surely upon Us rests the guidance, 12 And lo! unto Us belong the latter portion and the former. 13 I have now warned you of the Blazing Fire, 14 None shall enter it save the most wretched, 15 Who denies and turns away. 16 For, distant from it shall remain he who is truly conscious of God: 17 Those who spend their wealth for increase in self-purification, 18 And no one has with him any boon for which he should be rewarded, 19 but only to seek the good pleasure of his Lord Most High. 20 and he shall surely be satisfied. 21
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
