The Night (Al-Layl)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the night when it covers 1 and the day in splendour 2 And the creating of the male and the female, 3 Certainly, your efforts and deeds are diverse (different in aims and purposes); 4 As for he who gives and fears Allah 5 and believes in the truth of what is right, 6 We will facilitate for him the easy end. 7 But he who does not give and is unconcerned, 8 And who belieth the Good, 9 We shall facilitate the path to affliction 10 His riches will not save him when he perisheth. 11 Verily We take upon Ourselves to guide, 12 And most surely Ours is the hereafter and the former. 13 Therefor have I warned you of the flaming Fire 14 in which none shall be roasted except the most wretched sinner, 15 who have rejected the (Truth) and have turned away from it. 16 and from which the cautious shall be distanced. 17 [He] who gives [from] his wealth to purify himself 18 And no one has done a favour to him, for which he should be compensated. 19 except the pleasure of their Lord, the Most High 20 He will surely be well-pleased (with him). 21
