The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the night as it veils [the earth] in darkness, 1 And the day when it shines in brightness, 2 And by Who created the male and female, 3 O men, you truly strive towards the most diverse ends! 4 So for one who gave and practised piety 5 and affirmed the Truth of goodness: 6 observe piety, and believe in receiving rewards from God. 7 As for him who was a miser and behaved with aversion (to Allah), 8 And gives the lie to the best,- 9 We shall facilitate for him the way to Hardship, 10 His wealth will not avail him when he falls into ruin. 11 Surely upon Us rests the guidance, 12 and to Us belong the Last and the First. 13 and so I warn you of the raging fire 14 [the fire] which none shall have to endure but that most hapless wretch 15 Who give the lie to Truth and turn their backs. 16 Far removed from it will be the righteous 17 Who giveth away his substance that he may be cleansed, 18 not as payment for favours received, 19 But only seeking the countenance of his Lord, Most High. 20 surely, he shall be satisfied. 21
True are the words of God the Almighty.

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
