The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
O, you, wrapped in your cloak, 1 Arise, and warn, 2 And your Lord (Allah) magnify! 3 Purify your inner self, 4 and shun uncleanness, 5 And bestow not favors that you may receive again with increase, 6 be patient unto your Lord. 7 And when the trumpet is blown, 8 That shall be - that Day - a day hard. 9 not an easy day for the unbelievers. 10 Leave Me and him whom I created alone, 11 and to whom I have granted resources vast, 12 and sons standing before him, 13 And made several preparations for him. 14 and yet, he greedily desires that I give yet more! 15 By no means! surely he offers opposition to Our communications. 16 and I shall constrain him to a hard ascent. 17 For lo! he did consider; then he planned - 18 So let him be cursed! How he plotted! 19 What an evil plan he has made! 20 Then looked he, 21 and then he frowns and glares, 22 and in the end he turns his back [on Our message,] and glories in his arrogance, 23 And said, "This is not but magic imitated [from others]. 24 "This is nothing but the word of a mortal!" 25 I will cast him into the fire of Hell. 26 and what will teach thee what is Sakar? 27 It leaveth naught; it spareth naught 28 It shrivelleth the man. 29 Above it are nineteen guards. 30 We have appointed only angels to be masters of the Fire, and their number We have appointed only as a trial for the unbelievers, that those who were given the Book may have certainty, and that those who believe may increase in belief, and that those who were given the Book and those who believe may not be in-doubt, and that those in whose hearts there is sickness, and the unbelievers, may say, 'What did God intend by this as a similitude?' So God leads astray whomsoever He will, and He guides whomsoever He will; and none knows the hosts of thy Lord but He. And it is naught but a Reminder to mortals. 31
