The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Recite: In the Name of thy Lord who created, 1 created man from a clot [of blood]. 2 Read: And thy Lord is the Most Bounteous, 3 who, by the pen, taught the human being: 4 taught man what he did not know. 5 Indeed, surely the human is very insolent 6 Because he considers himself self-sufficient. 7 Surely to your Lord is the return. 8 What do you think? Have you seen he who forbids 9 A votary when he turns to his devotions? 10 Have you seen if he was upon guidance 11 or orders piety? 12 Have you thought that if he denies and turns away, 13 Does he not know that God observes all things? 14 Nay! If he (Abu Jahl) ceases not, We will catch him by the forelock, 15 a lying, sinful forelock. 16 So let him summon his helpmates; 17 We shall call on the guards of Hell. 18 (Muhammad), never yield to him! Prostrate yourself and try to come closer to God. ۩ 19
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
