The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Recite thou in the name of thy Lord Who hath created 1 Created man, out of a (mere) clot of congealed blood: 2 Recite: And thy Lord is the Most Generous, 3 Who teacheth by the pen, 4 Has taught man that which he knew not. 5 Indeed, surely the human is very insolent 6 for he thinks himself self-sufficient. 7 Surely to your Lord is your return. 8 Have you seen him who restrains 9 A slave when he prayeth? 10 Hast thou considered whether he is on the right way, 11 Or had enjoined piety, (it would have been better)? 12 Tell me if he (the disbeliever, Abu Jahl) denies (the truth, i.e. this Quran), and turns away? 13 Did he not realise that Allah is watching? 14 Indeed, if he does not desist, We will seize him by the forelock, 15 the lying, rebellious forehead! 16 Then let him call his associates; 17 We shall call the guards of Hell. 18 Nay! (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him))! Do not obey him (Abu Jahl). Fall prostrate and draw near to Allah! ۩ 19
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
