The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Recite in the name of your Lord who created - 1 created man out of a germ-cell 2 Read, for your Lord is most beneficent, 3 Who taught by the pen, 4 The One Who taught man all what he did not know. 5 Nay, but man doth transgress all bounds, 6 Because he sees himself self-sufficient. 7 Surely to your Lord is your return. 8 What thinkest thou? He who forbids 9 a servant [of God] from praying? 10 Did you consider: what if he is on the Right Way, 11 and enjoins piety? 12 Did you consider: what if he gives the lie (to the Truth) and turns away (from it)? 13 Is he then unaware that Allah seeth? 14 Nay, but if he cease not We will seize him by the forelock - 15 A lying, sinful forelock! 16 So let him summon his helpmates; 17 We will call the angels of Hell. 18 Beware! Do not obey him, but bow in adoration and draw near (to your Lord). ۩ 19
