The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Read! In the Name of your Lord, Who has created (all that exists), 1 Created man from a clinging substance. 2 Recite thou: And thy Lord is the Most Bounteous, 3 who, by the pen, taught the human being: 4 taught the human what he did not know. 5 And yet, but yet man is rebellious, 6 That he thinketh himself independent! 7 Verily unto thy Lord is the return. 8 Bethinkest thou him who forbiddeth, 9 A bondman of Ours when he prayeth 10 Seest thou if he is on (the road of) Guidance?- 11 Or enjoineth piety? 12 Have you thought that if he denies and turns away, 13 Does he not know that Allah sees everything? 14 And yet indeed if he does not desist We shall drag him by the forelock, 15 A forelock, lying, sinning. 16 So, let him call upon his way! 17 and We too will call the stern and angry keepers of hell. 18 Nay, pay thou no heed to him, but prostrate thyself [before God] and draw close [unto Him]! ۩ 19
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
