The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
READ IN THE name of your Lord who created, 1 created man from a clot of congealed blood. 2 Recite, and your Lord is the most Generous - 3 who taught by the pen, 4 taught man what he did not know. 5 Despite this, the human being still tends to rebel 6 for he believes himself to be self-sufficient. 7 Surely to your Lord is the return. 8 HAST THOU ever considered him who tries to prevent 9 a servant (of Allah) when he prays? 10 Do you think he is rightly guided, 11 and enjoins piety? 12 Seest thou if he denies (Truth) and turns away? 13 Does he not know that Allah sees everything? 14 Yes certainly, if he does not desist, We will seize him by the forelock. 15 A forelock, lying, sinning. 16 Then let him summon his council, 17 We will call on the angels of punishment (to deal with him)! 18 Nay, heed him not: But bow down in adoration, and bring thyself the closer (to Allah)! ۩ 19
