The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Recite in the name of your Lord Who created, 1 created man from a clot [of blood]. 2 Recite, and your Lord is the most Generous - 3 Who taught by the pen, 4 taught man what he did not know! 5 And yet, but yet man is rebellious, 6 whenever he believes himself to be self-sufficient: 7 Surely! Unto your Lord is the return. 8 Hast thou seen him who dissuadeth 9 A bondman of Ours when he prayeth 10 Have you thought, if he had been on guidance 11 Or he commandeth piety? 12 What will happen if the prohibiting rejects the Truth and turns away from it!? 13 Knoweth he not that Allah beholdeth? 14 Nay, if he desist not, We shall most surely drag him down upon his forehead 15 the lying, rebellious forehead! 16 So let him summon his helpmates; 17 We shall call on the guards of Hell. 18 Nay! obey him not, and make obeisance and draw nigh (to Allah). ۩ 19
