The Backbiter (Al-Hummazah)

9 verses, revealed in Mecca after Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah) before Dispatched (Al-Mursalaat)

In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful

Woe to every scorner and mocker 1 who amasses wealth, counting it over, 2 thinking that his wealth will make him live forever! 3 Never! He will certainly be thrown into the Crushing One. 4 How will you comprehend what Hutama is? 5 (It is) the Fire of (the Wrath of) Allah kindled (to a blaze), 6 Which rises above the hearts. 7 Lo! it is closed in on them 8 In pillars stretched forth (i.e. they will be punished in the Fire with pillars, etc.). 9

True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
