Al-Hummazah

The Backbiter (Al-Hummazah)

9 verses, revealed in Mecca after Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah) before Dispatched (Al-Mursalaat)

In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful

Woe to every (kind of) scandal-monger and-backbiter, 1 Who collects wealth and [continuously] counts it. 2 He bethinketh that his wealth shall abide for him. 3 By no means! He shall surely be cast into the crushing torment. 4 And what have you understood what the Crushing One is! 5 (It is) the Fire of (the Wrath of) Allah kindled (to a blaze), 6 Which leaps up over the hearts, 7 Verily, it shall be closed in on them, 8 In pillars stretched forth (i.e. they will be punished in the Fire with pillars, etc.). 9

True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
