Thorns (Al-Masad)

5 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Key (Al-Faatehah) before The Rolling (Al-Takweer)

In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful

Destroyed were the hands of Abu Lahab, and he lay utterly doomed. 1 His wealth did not benefit him in the least, nor did whatever he earned. 2 [In the life to come] he shall have to endure a fire fiercely glowing; 3 His wife shall carry the (crackling) wood - As fuel!- 4 Will have a strap of fibre rope around her neck. 5

True are the words of God the Almighty.
