The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the Mount, 1 And a Scripture inscribed 2 On an open record. 3 by the much-frequented House, 4 And [by] the heaven raised high 5 And [by] the sea filled [with fire], 6 The punishment of your Lord is certain to come. 7 there is none who could avert it. 8 On the day when the heaven shall move from side to side 9 and the mountains quickly move. 10 Woe, then, on that Day to all who give the lie to the truth 11 Who are in [empty] discourse amusing themselves. 12 A day when they will be pushed, forcibly shoved towards the fire of hell. 13 "This is the fire which you were wont to call a lie! 14 Is it magic, or you cannot see? 15 "Burn ye therein: the same is it to you whether ye bear it with patience, or not: Ye but receive the recompense of your (own) deeds." 16 Verily, the Muttaqun (pious - see V. 2:2) will be in Gardens (Paradise), and Delight. 17 Rejoicing in that which their Lord hath vouchsafed unto them; and their Lord will protect them from the torment of the Flame. 18 (They will be told): “Eat and drink to your hearts' content as a reward for your deeds.” 19 They will recline (with ease) on Thrones (of dignity) arranged in ranks; and We shall join them to Companions, with beautiful big and lustrous eyes. 20 And those who accepted faith, and whose descendants followed them with faith – We have joined their descendants with them, and have not reduced anything for them from their deeds; every soul is trapped in its own deeds. 21 And We shall increasingly give them fruit and meat such as they desire. 22 In it, they accept cups from each other, in which is neither any lewdness nor any sin. 23 ۞ Youths as fair as hidden pearls will be set apart to wait upon them; they will be running to and fro to serve them. 24 They will advance to each other, engaging in mutual enquiry. 25 They will say: "Behold, aforetime - when we were [still living] in the midst of our kith and kin - we were full of fear [at the thought of God's displeasure]: 26 and God was gracious to us, and guarded us against the chastisement of the burning wind; 27 Before, we were supplicating to Him. He is the Giving, the Most Merciful' 28
