The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the sky and the night comer - 1 Do you know what al-tariq is? 2 It is the piercing star - 3 There is no soul but that it has over it a protector. 4 So let man consider of what he is created: 5 He is created from a water dripping, 6 Coming from between the back and the ribs. 7 Now, verily, He [who thus creates man in the first instance] is well able to bring him back [to life] 8 On the Day when secrets are disclosed, 9 he will have no power, nor anyone to help him. 10 By the heaven with its recurring cycle of rain, 11 And by the Earth which opens out (for the gushing of springs or the sprouting of vegetation),- 12 BEHOLD, this [divine writ] is indeed a word that distinguishes between truth and falsehood, 13 And is not a matter of amusement. 14 Surely they will make a scheme, 15 And I plot a plot (against them). 16 Therefore give them some respite give them some time. 17
True are the words of God the Almighty.
