We rescued the Israelites from the humiliating torment 30 and from the Pharaoh. He was the chief of the transgressors. 31 and We chose them, out of a knowledge above the nations (of their time). 32 and gave them such signs [of Our grace] as would clearly presage a test. 33 These men do say, 34 "There is no dying for us but once; and we shall not be raised again. 35 "Then bring back our fore-fathers, if you speak the truth!" 36 Are they better, or the people of Tubba? And those who were before them? We destroyed them; they were indeed criminals. 37 And We created not the heavens and the earth, and all that is between them, for mere play, 38 We did not create them except in Truth. But most of them do not know. 39 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] is the term appointed for all of them: 40 The Day when no protector can avail his client in aught, and no help can they receive, 41 Apart from those to whom God is kind. He is all-mighty and all-merciful. 42
