In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Ha-Mim. 1 A revelation from the Beneficent, the Merciful Allah: 2 A Book whose verses have been detailed, an Arabic Qur'an for a people who know, 3 A bearer of glad tidings and a warner. Yet most of them turn aside, so that they hearken not. 4 They say: "Our hearts are under veils, (concealed) from that to which thou dost invite us, and in our ears is a deafness, and between us and thee is a screen: so do thou (what thou wilt); for us, we shall do (what we will!)" 5 (Muhammad), say, "I am a mere mortal like you. I have received a revelation that your Lord is the only One. So be up-right and obedient to Him and seek forgiveness from Him. Woe to the pagans, 6 Those who do not give zakah, and in the Hereafter they are disbelievers. 7 Surely those who believe, and do righteous deeds shall have a wage unfailing.' 8
