The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event takes place, 1 (and none denies its descending) 2 It will abase some and exalt others. 3 When the earth is shaken up convulsively, 4 And the hills are ground to powder 5 So that they become a scattered dust, 6 [on that Day,] then, shall you be [divided into] three kinds. 7 The People on the Right: and how fortunate will be the People on the Right! 8 Companions of the Left, what are the Companions of the Left? 9 And the Outstrippers, the Outstrippers 10 These are they who are drawn nigh (to Allah), 11 In gardens of tranquility; 12 A large group from the earlier generations. 13 And a few from the later generations. 14 On couches wrought of gold, 15 Reclining thereon, face to face. 16 Round about them will (serve) youths of perpetual (freshness), 17 With bowls and ewers and a cup from a pure spring 18 Wherefrom they will get neither any aching of the head, nor any intoxication. 19 and such fruits as they shall choose, 20 And flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 and wide-eyed houris 22 Like unto preserved pearls. 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 There hear they no vain speaking nor recrimination 25 Nought but the saying: peace! peace! 26 And those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 27 They shall be in the midst of thornless lote trees, 28 And banana-trees (with fruits), one above another. 29 And a shade ever-spread. 30 and gushing water, 31 And abundant fruit, 32 Neither limited [to season] nor forbidden, 33 And maidens incomparable. 34 Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation. 35 And made them virgins, 36 full of love, well-matched 37 For those on the Right Hand. 38
