Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ OH, THE LAYING-BARE of the truth! 1 And what is that indubitable event? 2 And what will teach thee what is the Indubitable? 3 The Thamud and 'Ad denied the consequential calamity. 4 The Thamuds were destroyed by a violent blast of sound. 5 as for Aad, they were destroyed by a howling, violent wind 6 He made it rage against them seven nights and eight days in succession: so that thou couldst see the (whole) people lying prostrate in its (path), as they had been roots of hollow palm-trees tumbled down! 7 Can you see any of their survivors? 8 And Pharaoh and those before him, and the communities that were destroyed, brought error, 9 And they disobeyed the messenger of their Lord, so He seized them with a seizure exceeding [in severity]. 10 Lo, when the waters rose, We bore you in the running ship 11 That We might make it a memorial for you, and that remembering ears (that heard the story) might remember. 12 Then when the Horn is blown with one blast 13 And the earth and the mountains shall be removed from their places, and crushed with a single crushing, 14 On that Day will come what is to come. 15 when the sky will be rent asunder, the grip holding it together having loosened on that Day, 16 The angels will stand on all its sides. And on that Day, eight (of them) will carry the Throne of your Lord above them. 17 On that day all of you will be brought forth, so none among you wishing to hide will be able to hide. 18 Then he who is given his record in his right hand will exclaim, "Here is my record, read it. 19 Indeed, I knew that I should come to my reckoning' 20 So he will be in a pleasant life - 21 In a lofty Paradise, 22 With fruits hanging low within reach, 23 [And all who are thus blest will be told:] "Eat and drink with good cheer in return for all [the good deeds] that you have sent ahead in days gone by!" 24 And whoever is given his book in his left hand he will say, “Alas, if only my account were not given to me!” 25 Nor that I knew my reckoning! 26 Would that it (my death) had ended it all! 27 My wealth hath not availed me, 28 and my authority has vanished.” 29 Lay hold of him and chain him; 30 Then throw him in the blazing Fire. 31 And then insert him in a chain whereof the length is seventy cubits. 32 Surely he did not believe in Allah, the Great, 33 and did not feel any urge to feed the needy: 34 therefore he today has not here one loyal friend, 35 Nor food other than suppuration (filth) 36 which only the sinners eat". 37
