The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the setting star, 1 Your Companion is neither astray nor being misled. 2 And he does not say anything by his own desire. 3 It is but a revelation revealed. 4 and taught to him 5 very strong; he stood poised, 6 standing poised at the highest point on the horizon, 7 Then he approached and descended 8 So the distance between the Spectacle and the beloved was only two arms’ length, or even less. (The Heavenly Journey of Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him – was with body and soul.) 9 He revealed to God's servant whatever he wanted. 10 His heart did not falsify what he perceived. 11 Will you dispute with him what he saw? 12 He saw Him indeed another time 13 by the lote tree beyond which none may pass 14 Close to which is the Garden of Tranquility, 15 When the lote-tree was being enveloped, by whatever around it. 16 The eye turned not aside nor yet was overbold. 17 Indeed, he saw one of the greatest signs of his Lord. 18 Have ye seen Lat. and 'Uzza, 19 and about the third deity, al-Manat? 20 Is it for you the males and for Him the females? 21 that, lo and behold, is an unfair division! 22 These [allegedly divine beings] are nothing but empty names which you have invented - you and your forefathers - [and] for which God has bestowed no warrant from on high. They [who worship them] follow nothing but surmise and their own wishful thinking - although right guidance has now indeed come unto them from their Sustainer. 23 What! Will man get whatever he dreams of? 24 To Allah belong both the Next World and the present. 25
